Muse Headquarters: The Beginning

It started as motivation to complete my first book, The Other N Word...

DNY: Bringing It All Back - Behind the Scenes

Ok, so shout out to the Doris New York team for an amazing shoot this weekend. Marlene Duperley is such a Supershero!!!! Hair, creative direction and styling all for her own company...talk about renaissance woman. Shameika Bowman on make-up, WOW as always. I am so lucky to have had her every step of my modeling journey and I am so proud to be in the company of her amazing list of clients. She only beats the best...lol. Brian Luvar, The Auteur, words can't express the depths of his talent. Even his test shots are cover ready.

Once again I had the best time and special shout out to Rowena Husbands for bringing her amazing energy to the shoot and David Von Kittelberger for blessing us with his wonderful jewelry.

Marlene has awakened the spirits of our ancestors and they are more than pleased! I am so grateful to play a role.

We Got Next!

Ok, so thanks to my good friends Chandra and Kimmi Chu, in 2009 I came out of the dark and into the light represented by our savior J-Hov. Jay-Z that is. (I really get a kick out of his use of the Jesus metaphors and how it gets under people's skin. But I digress.) Anyway, I fell in love with his writing on the Blueprint 3 and it really helped me get through my vision and start doing the work. So, when Watch the Throne dropped, I was eagerly anticipating the affect it would have on my hustle.

The Power of the Tongue

My good friend Stacia (my "St.Cia") always warns about the power of the tongue. Many times we unconsciously cause our own demise by the words we use. For example, though I love my daughter's nickname, Bear, I have to let it go because she has begun to bite and claw. My older daughter and I spent the first half of Bear's life calling her DI-VA at the top of our lungs and now the house has to be completely silent for her to sleep, she throws a little tantrum when told "no" and expects everyone to submit to her every whim (she also has an amazing vocal range and natural rhythm). The point of this post is not to throw Riley under the bus, as she is the sweetest and best child, but it is the perfect example of Stacia's lesson.
