The Power of the Tongue

My good friend Stacia (my "St.Cia") always warns about the power of the tongue. Many times we unconsciously cause our own demise by the words we use. For example, though I love my daughter's nickname, Bear, I have to let it go because she has begun to bite and claw. My older daughter and I spent the first half of Bear's life calling her DI-VA at the top of our lungs and now the house has to be completely silent for her to sleep, she throws a little tantrum when told "no" and expects everyone to submit to her every whim (she also has an amazing vocal range and natural rhythm). The point of this post is not to throw Riley under the bus, as she is the sweetest and best child, but it is the perfect example of Stacia's lesson.

In Honor of Thyroid Awareness Month

...and because it would have meant the world to me to see a less terrifying picture of someone suffering from Graves Eye Disease when I was first diagnosed, I am being open to my journey and posting this picture that I would have previously deleted.

Thanks to Marlene Duperley of Doris New York for helping me face the camera straight on.

Staying in My Lane

When you are blessed with the time and space to sit and think, you would be surprised at how much shit runs through your mind. If you are like me, there are always a million things going on up there anyway, so imagine pumping the breaks and starting to take in the scenery on a road that you had previously zoomed through. Well, this has been my experience over the past year and a half. After years of ignoring my random wanderings and wonderings, and focusing on more "logical" pursuits, I experienced a breakdown that led to a major breakthrough.

Is He Googleable?

"Google is a woman's best friend" -The Muse

Ok ladies, in the year 2011 there is no excuse for going for the okie doke with these guys. As our worlds become more global and our relationships less homogenous, it is imperative that we ask the right questions. Not just to make your fantasies more detailed, but to verify your potential suitor's (or booter, for that matter) identity.

Dopplegangers

So, be careful what you manifest is the lesson of the day. Because of my 'fro, people are always calling me Erykah Badu or some other hair icon. So, I said that that made me want to get famous so people can call Erykah my name. Imagine someone saying "Hey Muse" to Erykah Badu. I love the compliment, but who wants to be called by someone else's name.

Anyway, since I have moved to Harlem there are at least two women (powerful women at that) that are mistaken for me or who people say look like me. I need to hurry up and make my name, Muse, stick before I am the compared and not the compared to. Manifesting!

How to be a Man-Magnet: Be Easy!

I Am The Muse!

The Reinvention

A couple months ago I posed the question: "to reinvent or to revolutionize?" I was not referring to anything in particular at the time, but it got me thinking about the Artist that I am becoming and how different she is from the always logical LW-C we all know and love. Finally the answer came to me, REINVENT, and from there my whole artistic platform began to take shape.

Go Time!
Numbers Don't Lie

I am so excited that August is starting out on a Monday, makes it even more clear that this is a month for completion. The second Monday of the month is my 32nd birthday which I am super excited about! My life's phases have occurred in multiples of 8 (0-8 y.o, 9-16 y.o, 17-24 y.o., 25-32 y.o), so it is the end of an era. I plan to retire when I am 40, so 32 has to be a good year to set me up for making my fortune in this next phase.

31 is still 31

Its been awhile since my last post, mostly because my PC has died on me, but partly because I have been trying to process what is going on in my life. When my productivity is low, I can be hard on myself...but I am a very introspective person and I have to trust that a mental process is taking place that will put me back on track.

I'm Off People for Awhile

Having given myself permission to just stop and reflect, I realize that a lot of my mistakes and issues stem from my belief in people; which leads me to give of my resources without the promise of reciprocal benefit. This is by no means the fault of anyone but myself, but in order to assess the root of the problem I must isolate the variables.

The Muse Story

I have always felt that my life had a special purpose. This purpose began to reveal itself to me over the past year and has culminated into something much bigger and much more special than I ever anticipated. I have been saying that 2009 would go down as the most significant year in American History and I did not think it was an accident that it has been so significant for me personally. This year I abandoned my legal career to start my own creative arts agency, I had my first child, Ryan Alexis Clark, and I turned 30.
